Hard Work. Honesty. Fairness.

History

David Solheim and Gatsby Gottsch both grew up in Nebraska families closely connected to agriculture and small business. They learned first-hand the value of hard work, honesty, and fairness. After getting married in 2014, they decided to build a law practice rooted in those same small-town values. Solheim Law Firm delivers smart, honest advice at a fair price.

David grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of a Main Street banker and a kindergarten teacher. He graduated from Norfolk High in 2003 and chose to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he studied economics and was elected Student Body President in 2007. David attended the University of Nebraska College of Law and served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Nebraska Law Review. After law school, he accepted a position with Baird Holm LLP in Omaha, where he advised small- and medium-sized businesses and developed expertise in payment systems. Wanting more courtroom experience, he took a job as Deputy Washington County Attorney in 2012 and the Hancock County Attorney in 2013, where he served as the youngest elected county attorney in Iowa until starting Solheim Law Firm in 2017. David is proud to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve. He drills with a unit in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

Gatsby Gottsch Solheim

I was born in Elkhorn, Nebraska and graduated from Elkhorn High School in 2006. I studied finance at the University of Texas at Austin before returning home to Nebraska to work for Rural Media Group, Inc.--a family-owned media company headquartered in Omaha. From May 2010 through June 2014, I was employed as the Executive Vice-President of Finance and worked to manage the company’s capital structure, evaluate growth opportunities, and implement the management team’s various initiatives. It was this exposure that inspired my interest in transactional law.

I began at Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa in the fall of 2014. After completing my first year, I served as a summer associate at Davis Brown Law Firm. As a summer associate, I engaged in general corporate and real estate practice including drafting agreements, forming business entities, and analyzing abstracts of title. The following summer, I served as a legal intern with the Cerro Gordo County Attorney’s office. My job duties included representing the County Attorney in court proceedings such as juvenile court and magistrate court.

Upon graduating from Drake University Law School, I resumed working for Rural Media Group, Inc. as general counsel. In January 2018, I joined Solheim Law Firm LLC, in Crete, Nebraska.
